Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup Crisco or other good shortening
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon hot water
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 12-ounce package semi-sweet morsels
- 2 cups uncooked oatmeal (not instant)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Sift together the sifted flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
- Cream together the shortening and the sugars. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, together with the hot water. When mixed well, add the pecans, semi-sweet morsels, oatmeal and vanilla.
- Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Makes about 8 dozen cookies.
