Description
This is one of Dave Lieberman’s recipes from the excellent Dave’s Dinners. This is an apple crumble recipe you can get excited about.
Ingredients
For Filling
- 5 large Golden Delicious apples (about 3 pounds)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For Crumble

- About 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1-1/4 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1 stick cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

- Vanilla ice cream, as an accompaniment
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into 1/4-inch slices. Transfer the apples to a large mixing bowl and toss with the granulated sugar, lemon juice, brandy, and cinnamon.
- Pour into a lightly greased 13×9-inch baking dish.
- In another large bowl, make a coarse crumb mixture out of the crumble ingredients, using your fingers. Top the apples with this mixture and bake about 45 minutes.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
