Baked salmon is one of the easiest ways to enjoy this nutritious, healthy fish. Baking is a simple cooking method. You can also season the fish, or add a nice sauce. Did you know that when you buy salmon from the seafood counter, they will portion it for you? Very helpful!
My favorite way to eat salmon is with a small amount of fish rub seasoning and a squeeze of lemon. Our Tequila Cream Sauce recipe (pictured here), poured over the fish, adds a great Texas flavor. Baked salmon can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two days.

Baking is a simple cooking method for salmon. You can also season the fish, or put a nice sauce over it. Did you know that when you buy salmon from the seafood counter, they will portion it for you? Very helpful!
Ingredients
- 2 salmon fillets portioned into 5 or 6 ounces
- Kosher salt and ground pepper
- olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat over to 450°.
- Let salmon come to room temperature before cooking, about 20 to 30 minutes.
- Season the salmon. Salt and pepper is fine, although feel free to use your favorite spice rub. Fish has a delicate flavor, so it does not take much to overpower.
- Brush fish with olive oil to prevent sticking, and place in a foil-lined baking sheet.
- Bake four to six minutes until internal temperature reaches 135° F. You can also visually tell when the salmon is done by inserting a fork and twisting it. When it’s flaky, it’s done.
- Salmon is done when it flakes easily when tested with a fork.
- Remove from pan and let rest for several minutes before serving. Add a sauce, squeeze with lemon juice or spinkle with fresh herbs.
