A streusel topping adds a nice additional texture to muffins, pies, cakes and other breads. Here’s a recipe that easy to whip up, and you can easily modify to create new variations.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

6 tablespoons cold butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a mixing bowl.
- Cut in the butter with a fork or pastry blender, mix until the consistency is of coarse crumbs.
- You can store in refrigerator up to 24 hours.
Notes
For holiday recipes like pumpkin muffins, add a 1/4 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice.
